The First Ever Toothbrush

Fun fact: The Babylonians and Ancient Egyptians were the first to make the toothbrush in around 3500 – 3000BC. Ancient Egyptian tombstones have been found containing tooth sticks next to the bodies. The toothbrushes were made from twigs which were frayed at the ends creating a brush effect.  In around 1600BC the Chinese invented chewing sticks made out of aromatic tree twigs to freshen breath.

The first modern toothbrush was made by William Addis in England in around 1780. It wasn’t until 1960’s that the electric toothbrush was made in United States.
